This was my first Plein Air events. I found it enjoyable painting out in the open. A lesson learned was;  on a bright day it is best to paint in the shade or bring your own shade. I had a very bright white peice of paper reflecting back in my eyes. Also it was starting to get hot. Patrick was a great host, and if you every get the chance to attend one of their Paint Outs, make every effort to attend. Below is the picture I finshed while at the ranch. Painted on a 1/4 sheet of  HP140.

Bicycle man was painted on CP140 in watercolor, size 11×14.

This picture was inspired by Julian’s Spring Daffadils, painted on 1/2 sheet in watercolor.

This picture came from childhood memories of living in Michigan. Painted on a 1/2 sheet of CP140 with W&N paint.

Painted this picture from photo stock, had a problem again with pencil lead melting into the paint. Painted on a 1/8 sheet of CP140.

9 x 12 inch Hot Press #140.  This painting was inspired by a photograph taken at the end of 2008. Mesa Grande is a valley a few miles North of Santa Ysabel. I did a few different color washes to set the background.  The curving dirt road and the smaller tree branches were done with a rigger brush.  A fun scene to paint.  -Ken-
